Elementary school students recently filled Harper library for the return of the very popular Lego WeDo Robotics program, thanks to a great collaboration from wonderful community partners who have brought the program back for two summer sessions this year (June and July).
Talented instructors from the Kiwanis Club of Southport-Oak Island worked with the kids on computers and robot kits donated by FOLSOI from a generous grant from the St. James Service Club.
Students worked in teams of two or three to build robots and program them to perform certain tasks. Parents, siblings, and grandparents joined the fun by observing the class and watching students demonstrate how their robots worked.
While the robotics participants were busy building their robots, other family members enjoyed reading, family games, and STEAM activities funded by FOLSOI. The enthusiasm was infectious and everyone was grateful to be able to gather again safely at the library.
It’s not too late to get sign up for the Thursday, July 14 class. Call Harper Library at (910) 457-6237.
