Author Otis L. Lee, Jr. Esq. to Speak at Southport’s Harper Public Library Documentary Filming as Celebrated Author Discusses His Books
SOUTHPORT, N.C., (May 7, 2025)
Southport’s Harper Public Library is honored to host Otis L Lee, Jr.
Esq., acclaimed author and attorney, for a special author talk and book signing on
Tuesday, May 20 at 2:00 PM. The talk is being filmed as part of an upcoming
documentary.
Otis Lee is the author of From South Boston to Cambridge: The Making of One
Philadelphia Lawyer (2013), The Last Train From Djibouti (2019), and most recently, I
Was Born in the Forest: A Traveler’s Guide to Quilombos, The Citadels of African
Resistance to Slavery in Portuguese America and a Story of Black Spartacus (2024).
His work blends memoir, travel writing, and historical narrative to illuminate untold
stories of Black resistance and resilience across the globe. (read full release)

Join us on Tuesday, May 6th at 5pm at Barbee Library to meet author Bob Adamov, author of two books Alone at Home and Holden’s Promise, which is set in our local area.
Bob Adamov is an award winning, Ohio mystery adventure author whose stories are usually based in the Lake Erie South Bass Island resort village of Put-in-Bay. His novels follow the adventures of investigative reporter Emerson Moore, and are written in the style of his favorite author, Clive Cussler. (read full release)

SOUTHPORT, N.C., (April 8, 2025)
FOLSOI will host the next NC Reads program on Saturday, May 10 at Harper Library in
Southport. The program features author Meagan Church and UNCW History Professor Jennifer
Le Zotte with a discussion of Church’s book, The Girls We Sent Away. There will be two
sessions: 10:00AM and 2:00 PM and each will be limited to 15 participants. Books will be
