Friends of the Library
The Friends of the Library Southport & Oak Island (FOLSOI) supports the mission and programs of the Margaret & James Harper, Jr. Library in Southport and the G.V. Barbee, Sr Library on Oak Island. FOLSOI is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization registered under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

A generous individual agreed to match up to $5000 of December donations if we reach or exceed our $5000 fundraising goal.
We exceeded our December $5000 goal, raising $6820 for the libraries!

Kathleen’s life was changed on September 11, 1976 when her husband, Brian Murray, a NYPD bomb disposal expert, was killed by a terrorist’s bomb. S.M.Art Kid’s Club (Science, Math & the Arts)
Thursday, January 19th from 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Join us every third Thursday for games and hands-on activities in subjects such as electricity, magnets and robotics as well as arts projects! Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Join us at Barbee Library every Tuesday starting January 24th for an hour of fun LEGO building.
No registration required. All are welcome.

For Kids Grades 3-6
Wednesday, January 25th 4:15 – 5:30 pm
Join other Lego fans and work together to create fun and interactive LEGO projects! Open to students in 3rd through 6th grade.

Join us for this special event celebrating Caper Fear Rising and remembering author Philip Gerard. Best-selling author David Gessner will discuss the the Wilmington coup of 1898 and the importance of the book that helped raise awareness of the event.
