The Friends of the Library Southport & Oak Island (FOLSOI) supports the mission and programs of the Margaret & James Harper, Jr. Library in Southport and the G.V. Barbee, Sr Library on Oak Island. FOLSOI is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization registered under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

S.M.Art Kid’s Club (Science, Math & the Arts)
Thursday, March 16th from 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Join us every third Thursday for games and hands-on activities in subjects such as electricity, magnets and robotics as well as arts projects! Recommended for ages 6 and up.

Every Tuesday 4:30 – 5:30 pm
Join us at Barbee Library every Tuesday in March for an hour of fun LEGO building.
No registration required. All are welcome.

Meet the Author: Peter Hoyer
Hoyer will be discussing his first two books, Characters on the Green, humorous true stories of people he has met on the golf course, and Teed Off, a fictional mystery involving skeletal remain found in the woods near a golf course.

LEGO WeDo Robotics Class
For Kids Grades 3-6
Thursday, March 23 | 4:15 – 5:30 pm
Harper Library 109 W. Moore Street
Your child will use his or her listening and cooperation skills in working in teams of 2 to create fun LEGO projects. Instructors explain the science and engineering concepts inthe projects and volunteers assist the children when needed.
Program is limited to 15 studentss, so be sure to register! Call Harper at (910) 457-6237 or stop by to register.

Meet the Author: Helen Whittaker
Local author Helen Whittaker will present her book, Sisters in the Air, the true story of two amazingly independent, adventurous women who became daring airplane pilots in the 1920s – 1940s. Helen’s presentation will be in period costume and is sure to be entertaining and inspiring for older children, teens and adults
