Ron joined us via video conferencing to discuss his beautiful novel, The Caretaker. UNC history professor Jen LeZotte was also part of our conversation, joining us live at Harper Library. You’ll see Ron in the main screen, and our terrific FOLSOI moderators Stehanie Palmer and Regina Coleman, along with Prof LeZotte, in the small frame on the right.
The Caretaker, set during the Korean War and the polio epidemic, covers themes of family, love, poverty, and betrayal. It was fascinating to hear Ron speak on his writing inspiration and methodology, while Prof LeZotte offered historical context to deepen our understanding of the story.
