FOLSOI and the staff from the Brunswick County Library team participated in the Day4Hope event held on Saturday, August 9th at the Brunswick Community college. The homeless and children in need in Brunswick County were invited to participate in this Back to School event. This year’s participation more than doubled from last year, serving over 300 children and families in Brunswick County.

In addition to getting a hearing and vision screening, medical exams, dental cleanings, and haircuts were offered. Many of the Brunswick County non-profits participated by giving out pillows and hand made pillow cases, hygiene kits, gift certificates, back packs, hand knitted beanies, socks, and
of special interest to us, BOOKS!

FOLSOI participated by donated books for distribution, and our library partners shared information on library resources, and signed 23 new members up with library cards. Hunter, the Brunswick County Children’s librarian, stated that “it was a very well-organized event and an excellent
way for us to reach community members that have not yet visited the library”.
