What an amazing Sunday afternoon!  To a capacity crowd of about 200 people, UNC WOOP! (UNCW’s Opera Outreach Project) presented an afternoon of music and storytelling to residents of Southport, Oak Island and St. James communities. The program was presented by Friends of the Library Southport & Oak Island (FOLSOI) and the City of Southport on March 5 at the Southport Community Building.

Introduced by FOLSOI president Carol Brolley, Dr. Nancy King, Professor and Chair, Department of Music at UNCW, entertained the audience with laughter and education about each of the operatic pieces.  Students performed musical vignettes from the opera L’elisir d’amore and also performed songs from Fiddler on the Roof, Le Misérables, She Loves Me and more.

The program closed with a soprano operatic performance by voice instructor Elizabeth Stovall.
