Hopefully by now you’ve chosen a book—or stack of books—to read on National Book Lovers Day, Monday, August 9. So, you may be wondering, “What else can I do to celebrate?”
Here are three great ideas:
Why not make National Book Lovers Day a time to sort through your own book collection and bring the ones collecting dust over to the FOLSOI used bookstore in Southport? FOLSOI volunteers accept book donations on Tuesday mornings from 9-11 am and at the monthly Saturday sales (go to www.folsoi.org/book-sales for book sale dates.) And while you’re there, go ahead and pick up a few books to re-stock your shelves! FOLSOI’s assortment of used books is truly amazing!
Why not start a book club in honor of National Book Lovers Day?! Pick a genre or a theme and gather some friends for a monthly book discussion. You can request books for your book club members through Harper and Barbee libraries.
Why not spend the day in the library?! It’s still the best place to find a book – our librarians are terrific at recommending books for all types of readers. And what better place to spend a few quiet hours lost in a good book?
However you choose to celebrate, don’t forget National Book Lover’s Day Monday, August 9—and enjoy the read!
Can’t decide which is my favorite holiday, National Book Lover’s Day or Thanksgiving! Our family shares our favorite books before they are donated to the book store, so whenever we’re together feels like National Book Lover’s Day!
