Readers shopping for some good books to give for the holidays—or keep to themselves—packed into Southport Realty on Saturday, Dec. 14 for FOLSOI’s biggest sale of the year.

And what a sale it was—scores of happy shoppers and nearly $1,200 in donations to bring the total for 2019 to just under $20,500, a new annual high for the Friends.

That means more than $20,000 was raised this year to support our local libraries’ youth programs, educational programs for adults, and supplement each library’s operational budget.

When you consider that our book sale total just five years ago was a smidge over $10,000, it’s clear that great things are happening here: More people are reading great books and more great library programs are being funded.

Kudos to Kathy Fleming and her team of FOLSOI book sales volunteers! Congratulations and sincere thanks for such an outstanding record.
